Panic gripped residents of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, yesterday after the lifeless body of a motorcyclist identified as Isah Ibrahim was discovered in a well behind the stadium along Okitipupa Road. The victim was allegedly murdered by unknown assailants, who also made away with his red Bajaj motorcycle.
How the Tragic Incident Happened
Reports gathered by The Hope Metro revealed that Ibrahim, a well-known commercial motorcyclist in Ore, had conveyed a passenger to the area on the fateful day. According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers struck shortly afterward, killing him before dumping his body inside the well to conceal their crime.
“The incident occurred after he carried a passenger to the area. The assailants killed him and threw his body into the well. Though the motive is not clear, it is strongly suspected to be a case of motorcycle snatching, which has been on the rise in Ore,” a community source disclosed.
Fear Spreads Across Ore Community
The shocking discovery has left residents in deep fear, with many lamenting the growing wave of violent crimes in Ore and its surrounding areas. Motorcycles serve as both a major source of livelihood and the most common means of transportation in the community, making the rise in motorcycle-related robberies a major concern.
Some residents who spoke on the incident described it as “devastating,” warning that commercial motorcyclists in particular are now vulnerable targets for criminals.
Police Confirm Investigation
A security source confirmed the incident, noting that the body had been recovered and deposited in a morgue. He added that investigations were ongoing to apprehend those responsible.
“Yes, the case has been reported. The body has been recovered from the well. Our men are already working to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” the source said.
Calls for Stronger Security Measures
Community leaders and residents are now urging the Ondo State Police Command and other security agencies to increase patrols in Ore, stressing that the town has recently witnessed a disturbing rise in motorcycle theft and robbery attacks.
As at press time, no suspects had been arrested, but authorities have promised a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, the family of the late Isah Ibrahim is mourning their devastating loss, as sympathizers continue to throng their residence to console them.
May God continue to protect us from this evil doer!
